When Your Wedding Day Is All Rain

Alexa and Andrew’s wedding day at Villa Antonia was one of those days that truly showed why having a plan—and a team you trust—matters so much. The night before the wedding, the forecast showed rain clearing by 1 p.m., which meant the original outdoor ceremony still felt possible. Everyone went to bed thinking the weather would cooperate just enough to move forward as planned.

When we woke up the next morning, everything had changed. The forecast had shifted to a 100% chance of rain all day. A weather system had stalled over Central Texas, causing major flooding throughout the area, and it was immediately clear that the ceremony could no longer happen outside. This wasn’t a light drizzle situation—it was a full pivot.

Because of earlier planning conversations, the team was already prepared to adjust. Prior to the wedding day, meetings had taken place with catering, floral, and the venue to talk through how the chapel would transition into dinner later that evening. That part of the plan was already locked in. What wasn’t planned was needing to also move the ceremony into that same space and then still turn it over again for dancing. Instead of one flip, the chapel now needed to handle three: ceremony, dinner, and dancing.

The day began with vendors arriving and immediately working with that updated plan in mind. Jo.A Floral set designs that could be moved and reused throughout the day. Premiere Events and LOOT Rentals placed rentals intentionally so they could be shifted quickly as the space changed. Hair and makeup started in the bridal suite with Blush N Bangs, keeping the energy calm while decisions were being finalized behind the scenes.

Once the call was officially made to move the ceremony indoors, Lauren with Eclipse Event Co. adjusted the timeline and flow of the entire day. Every vendor was looped in early, which made all the difference. Rather than scrambling later, everyone knew what was coming and how the day needed to move.

As Lauren Maria Photo and New Roads Productions began documenting the day, Texas Sun Music set up inside the chapel for the ceremony. Guests arrived to an indoor ceremony setup that felt thoughtful and intentional, complete with monochromatic ceremony fans that tied into the overall look while still being practical. The rain outside didn’t take away from the moment—in fact, being indoors brought guests closer together and made the ceremony feel more personal.

As soon as the ceremony ended, the biggest challenge of the day began. While Alexa and Andrew stepped away for a few quiet minutes, Eclipse Event Co. led the first major flip of the chapel. Ceremony chairs were cleared, tables were brought in, and florals were repositioned. All of this happened while guests were guided into cocktail hour, so the transition stayed mostly invisible.

Cocktail hour became the buffer that allowed the plan to work. Austin Catering began passing drinks and appetizers while piano music from Texas Sun Music continued. Guests moved throughout the venue, stopping by Pixster Photo Booth, watching sketches come to life with Vogue Vignette, and getting palm readings from Monica’s Porch. Bobalu Cigars rolled cigars nearby, giving guests plenty to enjoy while the team worked through the extra flip behind the scenes.

By the time guests were invited back into the chapel, the space had been completely reset for dinner. Sienna Strings played as guests took their seats, and dinner by Austin Catering began smoothly. It was hard to believe that the same room had just hosted the ceremony not long before.

After dinner, the chapel needed to change one more time. Tables were cleared, the dance floor was installed, and Texas Sun Music loaded in for the reception. Eclipse Event Co., Premiere Events, and Jo.An Floral worked together to turn the room again, making the third transformation of the day feel just as seamless as the first two.

Once dancing started, the rain stopped being part of the story. The rest of the night felt easy, fun, and fluid, even after a day full of on-the-fly decision-making. Transportation was handled by Around Austin, keeping everything running smoothly through the end of the night.

Alexa and Andrew’s wedding is a perfect example of how things don’t have to go exactly as planned to still work beautifully. The weather changed overnight, the ceremony had to move indoors, and an extra space flip had to be added—but because the couple trusted their vendor team and had already planned for flexibility, the day never felt chaotic. It was fluid, well-supported, and a reminder that experience and trust are what truly carry a wedding day.
